Looking for a Loopsy alternative?

Rowpip is a row counter that stops at counting: one project, and the row you're on as a number big enough to read from across the sofa. It's made for Android phones and Wear OS watches as well as iPhone and Apple Watch.

What's different about Rowpip

Rowpip is the app we make, so read this part with that in mind.

Auto-count Experimental

On the watch, Rowpip can try to keep count for you: you knit one row while the watch learns your rhythm, and after that it counts your stitches and moves on to the next row. We haven't found another app that counts rows from wrist motion (as of October 2026). It's experimental: it may work well for some ways of knitting and badly for others, and counting by hand always works.

What Loopsy does that Rowpip doesn't

Loopsy has counters for rows, rounds, stitches and repeats, and it turns PDFs and websites into interactive patterns. It offers pattern discovery, a yarn stash and session time logging, with a Focus view and a Live Activity counter. Its Apple Watch app starts work sessions and controls row counters from your wrist.

Rowpip counts rows and rounds and goes no further: one project at a time, no pattern library and no notes. If you want your patterns and your counter in a single app, Rowpip isn't that app.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rowpip a good alternative to Loopsy?

If a counter is all you want, yes. As of October 2026 Loopsy is a broad pattern and stash app with a counter inside, and Rowpip is a counter with nothing around it.

If you use Loopsy to find patterns and read them, no: Rowpip has no pattern library.

Is there a Loopsy app for Android?

Not as of October 2026. Loopsy isn't released for Android, and its website has a waitlist.

Rowpip is made for Android phones and Wear OS watches, and for iPhone and Apple Watch.

Is Loopsy free?

Yes: it's free with no time limit, and Pro is optional. Free users get 10 imports a week, and Loopsy Pro has several prices from $4.99 to $99.99 whose periods its listing doesn't state (US prices, October 2026).

Rowpip is free and carries no ads.

When can I get Rowpip?

Soon. Rowpip is coming to the App Store for iPhone and Apple Watch, and to Google Play for Android phones and Wear OS watches.
